First of all, not all root stimulators are created the same!  Many contain some form of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and perhaps a few other elements.  So why do we consider Ferti-lome ‘Root Stimulator’ to be a better product than most other brands?  This product contains ‘Indole 3 Butyric Acid’ and a surfactant which will help in reducing or eliminating surface tension.

Ferti-lome 'Root Stimulator' was formulated to help plants develop and grow a strong root system.  This formula will support existing roots and help them develop rather than creating new roots.  We use Ferti-lome Root Stimulator when planting bare-root trees and shrubs as well as planting any new plant in a landscape.  The beneficial value to this product is it promotes a healthy root system, thereby helping plants to survive.  Ferti-lome 'Root Stimulator' will help in producing the type of roots you see in the third picture you see above, thereby producing better and more vibrant blooms and the overall health of plants.

Don’t confuse Ferti-lome Root Stimulator with B1 which has little or no value as far as plants are concerned.  A few years ago, Sunset magazine did a study.  In their magazine article they compared several methods in evaluating the value of each product.  They used marigolds as the test sample and the first sample contained nothing but water, the second B1, the third one was a root stimulator without Indole 3 Butyric Acid, and the last one was Root Stimulator with Indole 3 Butyric Acid (Ferti-lome).  The marigolds that performed the best in their test was the product containing Indole 3 Butyric Acid and the two that performed equally or near equally were the marigolds that were given water with no other minerals and the one containing B1.  We have been in the nursery industry for many years and have found no value in products containing B1.

Now, for your information, if you are attempting to produce roots along with producing a more healthy plant, you may wish to add rooting powder to the plant.  We personally like Ferti-lome “Rooting Powder” since it contains IBA (Indole 3 Butyric Acid), but there are other rooting hormones available that may contain IBA.

We recommend using Ferti-lome each time you plant trees, shrubs, roses, annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables to stimulate early root formation and stronger root development.  Ferti-lome ‘Root Stimulator’ reduces transplant shock and promotes a greener, more vigorous plant!
