Designing The Home and Garden Store
Being small and the net income is not that of larger nurseries, we are not able to make all the sometimes necessary and practical improvements we would love to do, however with the help of our customers, we then have a progress report from which to make improvements as time and money allows. We have listed below some to the thoughts and ideas provided to us from gardeners such as yourself and we welcome your thoughts.
Entrance Appeal: Making the entrance inviting with attractive plants or seasonal decor that sets the tone for our garden center.
Logical Flow: Arrange aisles and sections so our customers can move naturally from one area to another without confusion. We have implemented this in part by keeping conifers in one area of the nursery, fruit trees in another, sun plants in another and shade plants in yet another. The Home & Garden Store will continue to improve these areas as we grow. Signage is one of are next priories in making it easier to find nursery products.
Feature High-Demand Items: Place popular products near our checkout counter, making it easier for you to shop those items.
Create Relaxation Zones: Include seating areas or small garden setups where you can imagine the products in your own home. We have a small area behind the retail shop where you can sit and enjoy the tranquility of our garden center. You are always welcome to invite friends, enjoy a cup of coffee from a local Starbucks or bring your lunch and enjoy the sitting area. There is a small display garden that we started late last fall in this area of the nursery.
Maximize Lighting: Several customers have recommended using natural and artificial lighting to highlight popular products that may be of interest.
A thoughtful layout not only improves your shopping experience, but allows you to find and shop for the plants you came to our store to buy.
